Akshaya Tritiya festival is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Parasurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.Akshaya means eternal, and Tritiya means the third day. It is said that on this day Veda Vyas dictated the The Mahabharata to Lord Ganesha, upon his insistence.
