The alertness of Indian Army on Thursday averted a major terrorist attack on sensitive and soft targets in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor, Army said.
On Wednesday night, the sentries of Indian Army observed suspicions movement close to an Army unit near Akhnoor market and activated the response mechanism.
“Last night sentries observed suspicious movement close to Army Unit near Akhnoor Market. Thereafter, response mechanism was activated,” Army said.
After the alert, Army carried out a massive sanitisation operation in the area and recovered an improvised explosive device (IED), 2 mines and a map of Jammu and Kashmir.
“During sanitisation process, security forces recovered 1 fully installed IED, 2 mines, army accoutrements & other incriminating stores, the Army added.
