New Delhi:

Terrorists killed seven Amaranth pilgrims, including six women, and injured 19 others as they struck at a bus in Kashmir's Anantnag district, in the worst attack on the annual pilgrimage since the year 2001.

Five of those killed were from Gujarat and two from Maharashtra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack and assured all possible help to the victims. A high-level meeting has been called on Tuesday which would be attended by home minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and all senior officials.

The bus had come from Sonamarg. The pilgrims were on their way back after visiting the Amarnath shrine. The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah condemned the attack and said despite recent successes against militants the feared attack took place.

Although they were many casualties which were inflicted in this dastardly terrorist attack, it could have been worse if the driver of the bus Saleem, dint use his presence of mind and withstand the onslaught of the fire opened by the terrorists.

As per reports, Saleem, the driver for Yatri vehicle saved many lives as he did not stop the bus when it came under attack. It was his sharp decision that led to saving many lives in the bus. If he had stopped the bus then more casualties would have been  inflicted .
