Amid growing instances of infiltration from Pakistani side and heightened tension over Kashmir, the Narendra Modi government has decided to deploy additional battalions of the Border Security Force at the International Border. News Nation has learnt from the well-informed sources in the Union Home Ministry that around 10,000 BSF jawans will be deployed at the International Border spanning from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat. 10 additional battalions will be stationed. However, the exact time of the deployment has not been revealed due to security concerns. Modi government’s robust policy against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism has translated into swift action on ground. Since the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, Pakistan has been desperately trying to create trouble across the border. Various intelligence inputs in last three months have shown Pakistan-based terror outfits trying to send men across border to carry out attacks in India.
Earlier in September, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had said that the Pakistani Army resorted to a total of 2,050 unprovoked ceasefire violations in 2019 in which, the ministry said, 21 Indians lost their lives. The ministry also said that the Indian government has highlighted the concerns of "unprovoked ceasefire violations," "cross border terrorist infiltration", and "targeting of Indian civilians". The Indian government has also called upon the Pakistani administration to adhere to the 2003 "ceasefire understanding, maintain peace and tranquillity along LoC and the International border".
"Highlighted our concerns at unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan, including in support of cross border terrorist infiltration and targeting of Indian civilians and border posts. This year, they resorted to over 2050 unprovoked ceasefire violations in which 21 Indians died," the MEA had said.
It further added: "We've repeatedly called upon Pak to ask its forces to adhere to 2003 ceasefire understanding and maintain peace and tranquillity along LoC and the International border. Indian forces exercise maximum restraint and respond to unprovoked violations and attempts at cross border terrorist infiltration."
Pakistan has been trying to infiltrate via the porous border in Gujarat also. Indian intelligence agencies had received inputs that Pakistan-trained commandos were trying to enter India via Harami Nala from Gujarat. The Border Security Force has already deployed its elite squad in the area to give a befitting reply to Pakistan. The water channel is near the Sir Creek area close to the International Border between India and Pakistan.
