BJP chief Amit Shah has sought a report from the party's Madhya Pradesh unit Indore BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya, the son of BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, attacked a Municipal Corporation officer with a cricket bat in full public view. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The incident is hurting the party's image. Senior leaders in the BJP at the centre want to know the exact sequence of events, NDTV report said. “The party will take a call on what to do with the son of the party leader after studying all the facts of the case,” the report added.

Akash, who was accompanied with his supporters, started hitting the officer while a police official standing near remained blind-eyed. The civic officer was also thrashed by his supporters in the presence of police.
In the viral video, the police officer who was present during the attack, is later seen trying to stop the BJP MLA but failed as Akash and his supporters continue to hit the man. Following the hooliganism of the BJP leader, police personnel from three nearby stations along with the area SSP arrived at the spot to control the situation.
Akash Vijayvargiya has been sent to jail till July 7 after his bail plea was denied for attacking the civic official.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bala Bachhan condemning the attack had said, "You see, this is the real face and character of the BJP. They can't control their public representative. This is their conspiracy. We will take strict action against them."
