Amid ongoing protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to launch a massive campaign to mobilise support for the amended Citizenship Act. BJP’s top leadership has decided to do a door-to-door campaign to reach out to 3 crore households in order to counter misconceptions on the Citizenship law.
The ten-day mass contact drive will be launched by BJP president and Home Minister Amit Shah and party’s working president JP Nadda will start the drive in Ghaziabad.
Several Union Ministers and prominent top BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh, Prakash Javadekar Nitin Gadkari, and Nirmala Sitharaman will also take part in this campaign in different parts of the country.
During the campaign, which will continue till January 15, all BJP functionaries, leaders and elected representatives will take part and contact 25 families will be contacted in each booth, said Madhya Pradesh BJP media cell in-charge Lokendra Parashar.
Earlier, BJP launched a toll-free number to garner support for CAA. The number is for the people who want to register their endorsement of the law. BJP leader Arun Singh said people can register their support in favour of CAA by giving a missed call on 88662-88662.
BJP General Secretary Anil Jain said that number will allow people to register their support for the amended citizenship law, which seeks to grant citizenship to minorities from three neighbouring countries who arrived in India by December 31, 2014, due to religious persecution.
