Multi-campus private university, Amity University has reportedly acquired one college in New York and plans to buy two more to foray its business in the United States.

Various universities have tied up or established their overseas campus but only a few have headed to US because of strict regulation and higher cost involved. However Delhi-based Amity University after starting its campuses in England, China, South Africa and five other countries has at last extended their business in the US.

St. John University’s Long Island branch in New York is acquired by Amity after paying a whopping $22 million last month. Now Amity is planning to open its maiden branch in US on Long Island’s 170-acre land after it formally gets ownership in June 2017.

Amity has also closed a deal to buy Boston-based New England Institute of Arts and one of its associate school, the Art Institute of New York City. The deal is presently awaiting approval form the state education officials.

Amity University’s chancellor Aseem Chauhan said,” We have a global vision for education, a model of education which allows for student mobility, faculty collaboration and research collaboration. We believe that the leaders of tomorrow will be those who have perspectives from different parts of the world.”

Amity University in India offers bachelor and graduate degree in fields ranging from art to engineering. It has more than a dozen campuses across the globe.
