Eleven militants, including top commanders, were killed in massive anti-terror operations launched by Security forces in Anantnag and Shopian districts of south Kashmir on Sunday.
A joint team of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched the operations after they received information of some militants hiding in Anantnag and Shopian.
Seven terrorists were gunned down in Draggad village of Shopian and one was killed in Dialgam in Anantnag after security forces and their family members failed to convince them to surrender.
"One terrorist has been killed in Dialgam in Anantnag after efforts of his family and J&K Police failed to make him surrender and another one has been caught alive. In Draggad, seven bodies of terrorists were recovered including top commanders," said SP Vaid, Director General of Police.
One militant, who agreed to surrender, has been caught alive. Four Army personnel sustained injuries during the operation.
Meanwhile, an encounter is underway in Kachpoora area of Shopian, three militants have been killed while two more are still believed to be hiding there. Some civilians are also trapped in Kachpoora.
