Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSR Congress) supremo Jagan Mohan Reddy has called for Andhra Pradesh bandh on Tuesday against the unfairness done by the Narendra Modi-led BJP government.

"YSR Congress Party in Kakinada We are calling for Andhra Pradesh bandh on Tuesday, 24th July against the injustice done by the BJP government. We will support any party at the national level. Our only demand is special category status to Andhra Pradesh," Jagan Mohan Reddy said at a press meet in Kakinada.

Andhra Pradesh’s special category status has become a heated political issue between the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress.

Telugu Desam Party moved the debate on the no-confidence motion with TDP MP Jayadev Galla crying for justice to Andhra Pradesh and requested the Centre to fulfil the promises made in 2014.

Galla said that the Centre had tricked the State into accepting the package by using the 14th Finance Commission as an excuse and thanked the opposition parties for supporting TDP’s motion.

"You did not even bother to give it legislative backing. To add insult to injury, we have not received a single paisa promised in the package. Since nothing has been done so far on the special package, we are demanding the implementation of the Cabinet decision on SCS," he said.
