Delhi :

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, while demanding Special Category Status for the state, said that the Centre should do justice, and that the party will not back out to move a no-confidence motion against the Centre if needed as a last resort.

While addressing a gathering at Madigala Mahasabha organised in Vijawada on Monday, he said that many political parties have denied to support to fight against the Centre, while some Members of Parliament (MPs) of the state are asking for resignation, and questioned that who will fight for the special status and rights of the state if the MPs resign.

He said, “Some are asking for resignations. If our MPs resign, who will fight for our state. No confidence motion should be last resort. We will not simply put such motion. It needs at least 54 MPs. But we don't have that number.”

Recalling the injustice done to the state, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief said that the both the NDA government and the Congress did injustice with the state. He also said that both the BJP and the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) are criticizing him, while the Congress too, is leaving no stone unturned to blame him.

He said, “Center should do justice to our state. I am only asking for justice. But both YSRCP, BJP are criticizing me. Congress is blaming me. It's not good. Cong did injustice at the time of bifurcation, now BJP isn't properly implementing the promises.”

He blamed the Congress for being injustice at the time of the split between the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He also said that now, the NDA government is not fulfilling the promises it made at the time of elections.

He said, “The Congress had betrayed us. Hoping for justice to the State, we entered into alliance with the BJP. But even after three and a half years the BJP has not fulfilled the promises made in the Act or in Parliament. I have been to New Delhi 29 times and met everyone expressing our anguish.”

He said that on behalf of the many people of the state, he is demanding the Centre to immediately implement all the provisions as per the Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier on Thursday, the YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, appealed the TDP leader to ask his party leaders to join hands with the YSRCP for a united fight to get a promised Special Category Status for the state.

Jagan said, “TDP should join us in the resignations which would put the Centre into action mode. We need to put up joint fight and send out strong message to Centre with all 25 MPs from state resigning together.”

However, the TDP has called all this a drama, and saying that there is no pressure on the party, Diwakar Reddy, TDP MP, said, “YSRCP is only doing drama. The resignations will not get special status for the state.”
