Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday inaugurated a Rs 100 crore Indian Culinary Institute, built by the Ministry of Tourism, close to Renigunta airport, 15 km from here.

Speaking after inaugurating the building and campus of the autonomous institute, he said Indian culture, Indian culinary art and the taste of Indian food have its own enormous value across the world.

India is moving forward speedily on all sectors, including the economy and if this continued, the country would become the third largest economy in the world in 10 years, Naidu said.

Union Tourism Minister K J Alphons said that the culinary Institute came up here because of the efforts of the Vice President, “who offered us the brilliant idea to build the institute at this holy city.”

Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Bhuma Akila Priya and Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy were also present on the occasion.

The Vice president arrived at Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara later in the evening.

A temple official said the Vice President would offer worship at the hill temple on early Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswamy met the Vice President at the guest house at Tirumala and offered him a shawl.

Temple officials described it as a courtesy call.

Palanisawmi arrived at Tirumala to take part in a ritual on early Tuesday, they said.
