The Congress on Tuesday announced Amit Chavda as the new chief of its Gujarat unit. He will be replacing Bharatsinh Solanki.
Amit Chavda is Anklav legislator. The decision to raise Chavda’s rank comes after a close door meeting of senior Congress leaders in New Delhi on Tuesday morning.
Sources in the party say that several senior leaders from Gujarat had also attended the meeting chaired by Congress party president Rahul Gandhi.
Outgoing Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Solanki had been heading the unit since 2015. He had been an active Congress worker since 1992.
