Social activist Anna Hazare has started an indefinite hunger strike in Delhi on Friday. The hunger strike is happening nearly seven years after his anti-corruption movement which shook the UPA government.

Ram Lila Maidan has been locked in as the venue of the protest, the same location where Hazare had sat on a hunger strike in 2011 in demand for investigation against cases of corruptions.

But last time it was the UPA government who were in power, and this time it is Narendra Modi led BJP government.

The 80-year-old anti-corruption crusader has been pressing for the setting of the Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in the states. Hazare has been demanding implementation of Swaminathan Commission report.

"Anna will first visit the Rajghat and then come to the Ram Lila Maidan, where he will go an indefinite strike," said an aide of Hazare.

March 23 is the selected date for the commencement of the protest, the same date when Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were hanged to death, the aide added.

Anna Hazare took a recce of the iconic Ram Lila Maidan on Thursday, where thousands of people will join the protest on Friday, organisers claimed.

Delhi Police has issued a warning for travelers to avoid taking routes close to the Ram Lila Maidan.

Hazare and team visited the Rajghat before marching towards Shaheedi Park to Ram Lila Maidan.
