69th Army Day: PM Narendra Modi ‏wishes soldiers, veterans for their sacrifices

Prime Minister Narender Modi on Sunday wished and saluted all soldiers, veterans and their families on the ocassion of 69th Army Day.

PM Narender Modi on Sunday wished all soldiers, veterans and their familiy members on the ocassion of 69th Army Day. 

“Greetings to all soldiers, veterans & their families on Army Day. We salute the courage & invaluable service of the Indian Army,” PM Modi tweeted.

He saluted the courage of Indian Army who has always led ahead from the front weather it be in protecting the sovereignty of India or helping the citizens at times of natural disasters.

"We remember with great pride all the sacrifices made by our Army. They put their lives at risk so that 125 crore Indians live peacefully. Indian Army always leads from the front, be it in protecting the sovereignty of our nation or helping citizens during natural disasters," the prime minister said.

Army Day is observed on January 15 every year.

On this day in 1949, Lieutenant General K M Cariappa hadtaken over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of Armyfrom General Sir Francis Butcher.
