To check infiltration across the Line of Control (LoC), Indian Army on Tuesday took punitive fire assaults on Pakistani bunkers. The aim of carrying out fire assault was to curb Pakistan Army's attempt of facilitating intruders to sneak in across the Line of Control and cause insurgency in the Kashmir Valley.

"Army has inflicted damage to post across LoC in Naushera sector in response to firing by Pakistan. The Indian Army wants to restore peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. With melting of snow at the peaks, chances of infiltration has become big," said Major General Ashok Narula.

The Army’s action draws reactions from political parties. Political parties like Shiv Sena, Congress have welcomed the Army’s step to carry out punitive fire assaults across LoC.

Reacting to the Army’s step, Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant said that though Army has come out late but came strongly against Pakistan. He said that next target should be to hoist Indian flag at Lahore in Pakistan.

“Salute the valor and courage of Indian Army for destroying Pak posts which were abetting infiltrators from Pakistan,” said Congress leader RS Surjewala.

"There will be strong reply to infiltration from Pakistan," said BJP leader Hina Bhat on Indian Army's move to destroy Pak Army posts.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that he did not consider it as strong retaliation but acknowledged it as some action against Pakistan.

"Government supports the actions of Indian Army across LoC. Such actions are needed to ensure peace in J&K. Army taking preemptive and measured actions to counter terrorism in valley and disengage Pak posts across LoC supporting infiltration," said Defence Minister Arun Jaitley.
