Army soldier martyred in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Naoshera sector

A soldier has been martyred in an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan on Indian Army posts in Naoshera sector at around 5:15 AM on Friday morning.

The unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers was given effective reply and during the exchange of fire, Naik Bakhtawar Singh was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the Military Hospital.

“Naik Bakhtawar Singh was a brave and sincere soldier. He loved his job to the core. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” the Army said in its press release.

The wreath laying ceremony of Bakhtawar Singh will be held on Saturday in Rajouri. The mortal remains of the martyred soldier will then be transported to his native village where he will be laid to rest with full military honours.

Naik Bakhtawar Singh, aged 34 years, belonged to Hajipur village in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. He was survived by his wife and three children, son aged 11 years, daughter aged 9 years and another son aged 10 months.
