Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while addressing a press conference on Wednesday said that a commission will be set up to examine sub-categorisation of OBCs.
Jaitley further added that the commission will submit a report within 12 weeks once the chairperson of the commission is appointed. “Commission will submit a report within 12 weeks once the chairperson is appointed,” he said.
The Union Cabinet has also raised 'Creamy Layer' income cap among OBCs to Rs 8 lakh per annum from existing Rs 6 lakh for central govt jobs, Jaitley said.
“Cabinet has approved framework for consolidation of public sector banks,” the Finance Minister added.
While replying to a question whether Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will quit or not, Jaitley said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take a final call on the matter. “Prime Minister will take a decision on whatever request the railway minister has made,” he said.

On a question related to phasing out Rs 2000 notes, he said that till now there is no discussion within the government on the issue. “No discussion within government on phasing out Rs 2,000 notes,” he added.
