The winter fog gripped the entire north India region due to which various cases of car accidents due to zero visibility have been reported on Friday.Â
Mercury dipped in entire north India leading to thick blanket of fog. On Friday, 17 people died in various cases of car accident.Â

In another case, four persons, all travelling in the SUV, died on the spot, two others were taken to Contai Sub-Divisional hospital and their condition was serious, the officer said. The driver of the car, bound for Kolkata, apparently failed to see the truck in dense fog, he added.Â
In seperate case, leader of opposition in Haryana Assembly Abhay Chautala suffered injuries, when his fortuner car ramped with another vehicle on Chandigarh National Highway. Dense fog has engulfed NH1 highway on Friday. In separate incident, four persons were killed and two others seriously injured when a car overturned after hitting a stranded truck on NH 31 at Marishda in East Midnapore district,West Bengal on Friday. A senior police officer said the car, coming from sea resort Digha in the district, was moving at a high speed when it rammed the truck, which was stranded on a side of the highway, in the early hours.
