The Southern Star Army Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) hosted an inspiring edition of “ASMITA-Dakshini Kathan 2025” in Pune, bringing to the forefront the remarkable courage, resilience and achievements of Army spouses who continue to play a vital role in strengthening India’s military community.

The event showcased eight Army wives, each sharing deeply moving personal narratives of perseverance through adversity, rebuilding life after loss, and pursuing aspirations while navigating the demanding realities of military life. Their stories reflected the quiet strength, adaptability and emotional fortitude that define families of the Armed Forces.
A flagship initiative of AWWA, ASMITA provides a dedicated platform for Army spouses to express their identities, celebrate personal milestones, and highlight the invaluable support they provide behind the scenes. This year’s edition drew an enthusiastic audience comprising serving families, veterans and civilian dignitaries.

Adding depth and inspiration to the programme were special guests Dr. Deepa Malik, Padma Shri recipient and decorated para-athlete, and Mrs. Alina Alam, founder of Mitti Café. Their motivational addresses encouraged women to embrace change, pursue their ambitions and transform personal challenges into purposeful achievements.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Komal Seth, Regional President AWWA, said that ASMITA–Dakshini Kathan 2025 represents “a movement dedicated to nurturing self-belief, fostering mutual support, and celebrating the identity and achievements of Army wives.” She reiterated AWWA’s continued commitment to empower the larger forces fraternity.
The event concluded with a collective reaffirmation of AWWA’s mission to inspire, uplift and support Army families. ASMITA–Dakshini Kathan 2025 once again highlighted that the strength of the soldier’s spirit is reinforced by the resilience and determination of the women who stand firmly beside them.
