“With his demise, we lost the pole star of the Indian sky. He was multifaceted. The nation lost a tall leader, BJP lost its first National President, and crore of youth lost their inspiration. It is impossible to fill that void,” said BJP president Amit Shah.

"At 9 am tomorrow his mortal remains will be taken to BJP headquarters and at 1 pm his last journey will begin. Funeral will be held at 4 pm at Smriti Sthal," BJP President Amit Shah added.

Here is the series of tweets by BJP president Amit Shah:

Translated version:

I'm fighting a fight with Death,
though I had no intention to engage;
there were no promises to meet her at any turn

She stood in my way,
as if She was bigger than life

What is the age of Death?
Not even a few seconds.
Life is a long journey --
not just today or tomorrow;
I have lived to the fullest

I want a death of my choosing.
I will come back,
so why be afraid of leaving?

It is not so easy to fully dedicate each and every moment of life to the country, the organization. Atal Ji was a perfect volunteer, dedicated worker, poet, dynamic speaker and wonderful politician.

The thoughts of Atal Ji, his poems, his foresight and his political skills will always inspire and guide us all. I pray for the peace of his soul.

Vajpayee breathed his last on Thursday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.
