Maharashtra Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam today said the decision regarding rechristening Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar will be taken in the cabinet soon.
Talking to reporters in Aurangabad, the senior Shiv Sena said renaming the city as Sambhajinagar has been the dream of Sena supremo late Bal Thackeray.
“I have written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the renaming proposal and the cabinet will take a decision soon,” he added.
Kadam said a policy decision regarding alliance of the Sena and BJP for the upcoming municipal elections in Aurangabad would also be taken soon.
Currently, Shiv Sena runs the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation.
