The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it looks forward to conclude the hearing in the Ayodhya land dispute case on Wednesday and asked the parties to wrap up their arguments. A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has been hearing the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit for 39 days and had earlier set the deadline to finish arguments on October 18. Felt Insulted At Durga Puja Carnival, Says Bengal Governor, Trinamool Hits Back
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday said he felt insulted at the Durga Puja carnival in the city, but asserted that being a servant of the people of West Bengal he would not be deterred to discharge his constitutional duties. Dhankar claimed that he was “completely blacked out at the programme”, organized by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government to showcase some of the big-ticket pujas. The ruling TMC was quick to hit back, accusing Dhankar of being “publicity hungry” and acting in a manner that does not “befit a governor”. Chandrayaan-2 Captures Solar Flares, Set To Help Detect Processes On Sun
The Indian Space Research Organisation in this latest update states that the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter detected a series of solar flares starting September 30 midnight. The new findings by ISRO is significant for the fact that it further tests an important piece of equipment attached with Chandrayaan-2 orbiter. ISRO also shared a graph measuring series of solar flares with varying intensity. The solar flares were measured by XSM. Petrol, Diesel Prices: Check Latest Rates In India On October 16
The petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged on Wednesday, October 16. Petrol and diesel prices have fallen in the last few days after more than two weeks of upward movement that started after a drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s crude oil processing facilities on September 14. Sanjiv Singh, IndianOil Chairman, recently said that the price of products was affected after the attack in Saudi Arabia. Syria Crisis: ‘Can’t Declare Ceasefire, Not Worried Over US Sanctions’, Says Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday while dismissing a ceasefire in northern Syria said he was not worried over US sanctions. He also said the Syrian army’s entry into the flashpoint northern Syrian city of Manbij was not a “very negative” development for his country as long as the region is cleared of Syrian Kurdish fighters. “They tell us ‘to declare a ceasefire’. We can never declare a ceasefire,” Erdogan told journalists on a flight back from Azerbaijan, in comments published by the Hurriyet daily. Read more…
