Azaan row: Not said anything anti-Muslim, tweets Sonu Nigam

Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam on Tuesday said that he is ready to apologise if he has said anything anti-Muslim which he did not. He would hold a presser at 2 pm on Wednesday.

In a series of his tweets, Sonu said a few people are tainting his tweets. He questioned them where he has targeted the community and ready to tender apology if he said so.

In his another tweet, the singer clarified his tweets, saying he had also cited temple and gurudwara and talked about only loudspeakers.

He even took a dig at a Muslim cleric, asking him to get ready with Rs ten lakh as he is ready to shave his head. A muslim cleric of West Bengal had issued a fatwa against the singer.

On Monday, a row erupted over his early morning tweets on Azaan (mosque prayer) as he had dubbed it as cacophonous and intimidation in nature.  

The singer had written on social media that he was woken up by the sound of a mosque.

He had further written that despite being not a Muslim, he has to be woken up early morning, and questioned that when this forced religiousness would end in the country.
