Baba Ramdev says he can sell petrol, diesel at Rs 35 per litre if Centre.....

Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday said something that every Indian would wish to happen – petrol and diesel at Rs 35-40 per litre. The offer, however, is conditional and given the government’s track record in the last four years, it is highly unlikely that the Centre will consider it.

Speaking at the NDTV's youth conclave, the yoga guru-turned businessman said that the skyrocketing fuel prices can cost the Modi government dearly in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

“If the government lets me, and gives some relief in tax, I can give petrol diesel to India at Rs. 35-40 per litre,” Ramdev made the offer.

The founder of Patanjali Ayurved Limited also concurred with the Opposition’s demand to bring petrol and diesel under the GST regime.

“Fuel needs to brought under GST and not the 28 per cent rate,” Ramdev said.

On being asked if he would again campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019 general elections, the yoga guru said, “I have withdrawn myself politically. I am with all parties and I am with no parties.”

Ramdev is considered close to several BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party chief Amit Shah, but his statement that he will not campaign for the saffron party in next year's general elections may have some bearing on the outcome.
