New Delhi:

Controversies and Union Minister Babul Supriyo go hand-in-hand. The singer-turned-politician has developed a reputation of being controversy's favourite child over the last few years. Once again, the BJP MP stoked controversy after he threatened to "break a man's leg" during a public event for differently abled in West Bengal's Asansol on Tuesday.

"What happened to you? Any problem? I can break one of your legs" Union Minister Babul Supriyo was quoted by ANI as saying.

Supriyo was attending an event - Samajik Adhikarita Shivir, which was organised to donate wheelchairs and other equipment for the differently-abled people in and around Asansol.

Being irritated on a man from the gathering, Supriyo said, "What happened to you? Any problem? I can break one of your legs and can give you a crutch". His statement came after he reportedly lost his cool after the man continued to distract him with his weird movements.

Furthermore, the Union Minister asked the gathering to give a big round of applause to the man, while ordering his security personnel to hand him a crutch after breaking his leg.

Earlier in March, he was in news for another controversial comment in Asansol, one of the areas hit by communal violence across the state.

At that time the Union Minister allegedly threatened to “skin” some people who shouted slogans against him when he visited his constituency violating the Section 144 of the CrPC owing to communal violence following a Ram Navami procession in the district.

As some people requested him to leave the place, Supriyo was seen telling them, “Aami ki apnader ke bolbo lorai koro? Ami chole jabo, apnader opor goli cholbe (Will I ask you to fight? I will leave and you will come under fire).” Supriyo was also heard shouting, “Chamra guthiye debo ekdom… (Will skin them alive).”

The incident resulted into Supriyo’s detention for violating prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC and under Sections 146, 147, 148 (rioting) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), a non-bailable offence.
