Bank holiday for consecutive days in Delhi, Mumbai and other cities (ANI)

Commercial banks including State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank(PNB), HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank will be closed from November 23-25 in New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Dehradun, Jammu and Kanpur on account of Guru Nanak Jayanti followed by two-day weekend holidays. It is expected that people can face shortage of cash currencies in hand as ATMs may run out of cash due to the bank holidays. 

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s website, November 23 is Guru Nanak Jayanti, November 24 is the fourth Saturday and November 25 is Sunday. However, the online banking facilities including checking of balance, payment of bills and few other services will be available for customers.

In a latest report by the Times of India, banks in New Delhi, Mumbai (along with rest of Maharashtra), Hyderabad, Raipur, Ranchi, Dehradun, Jammu, Srinagar, Kanpur and Lucknow are closed for three days -- 21 November (Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi), 23 November (Guru Nanak Jayanti), 24 November (fourth Saturday).

Meanwhile, online transfer of money through RTGS, NEFT and IMPS may take some time and clearance of cheques will be delayed due to these holidays.

However, customers can deposit money through deposit machines in these three days, subject to availability of service in select areas.
