All nationalised and private banks in India will remain closed from today till Monday in the wake of Independence Day celebrations.

All nationalised and private banks in India will remain closed from Saturday till Monday in the wake of Independence Day celebrations.

It will be a three-day long weekend for government employees.

Although banks remain shut on every second Saturday, this time the holiday will extend till Monday due to the Independence Day festivities.

Consumers will have to rely on ATM machines to avail cash withdrawl as well as other basic banking services in the meantime.  

India will celebrate 70th Independence Day on August 15, this year.
