Battleground Varanasi: Modi, Rahul to seek votes for last phase of polling

It would be massive showdown between Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress-Samajawadi Party alliance on Sunday in Eastern Uttar Pradesh as people will vote in the last of the seven-phase assembly elections on March 8.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address a rally at Kashi Vidyapeeth sports ground. He would also hold a road show via Police line, Pandeypur Chauraha , Hukulganj,Maldahia and  Kashi Vidyapeeth.

On the other hand , BJP president Amit shah will hold three rallies in Jaunpur, Ghazipur and Ambedkar Nagar while Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi will address public meeting  in Duddhi (Distt Sonbhadra), Marihan (Distt Mirzapur) and Jaunpur (Distt Jaunpur).

On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had held a road show. Both leaders had paid a visit to the 'Kashi Vishwanath' temple of Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of Varanasi.

Amid chanting of 'shlokas', Akhilesh, sporting the red Samajwadi Party cap, was seen kneeling at the temple and seeking the blessings of the priests.
