Bengaluru teenager drowns, while friends take selfies
Bengaluru teenager drowned at a pond in Karnataka’s Ravagondlu Betta, around 40 kilometers from the state capital, while his friends were busy clicking selfie.
The deceased has been identified as Vishwas G, a student of National College in Jayanagar.
The victim’s parents and relatives of the teenager are protesting in front of the college with his body on Monday.
The parents are alleging that Vishwas died due to negligence of the college and faculty in charge of the NCC unit, Prof Girish and Sharathh.
The relatives called of the demonstration after the college management assured them of stringent action against the people for their negligence.
Police said that the deceased, a resident of Hanumantha Nagar along with 25 other fellow NCC cadets were picnicking with his friends in Ravagondhu Betta in Karnataka’s Kanakpura district. Vishwas drowned in the the 300-year-old Kalyana, a stepped pond, when he along with his friends entered the water in afternoon.
"The victim’s father has lodged a complaint alleging that negligence by the National College management led to death of his son. We registered a case of unnatural death, based on the complaint, and may register a case against the college management if a probe confirms their negligence," a police officer said.
