Learning from last year’s alleged molestation incident during New Year celebrations on Bengaluru’s Brigade Road, the Karnataka Police has installed at least 15 battalions of police personnel to ensure security of women and men participating in various celebrations across the state capital.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar said, “Adequate security measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incident during New Year celebrations.”
He added. “We have deployed 15,000 police personnel and 1500 home guards have been position in all strategic locations. Around 750 patrolling vehicles will be keeping an eye on the city.”
“Around 2,000 police personnel have been deployed in Brigade road, Church Street and MG Road,” said Kumar.

The commissioner added that extra lighting arrangements have been made in the area.
Kumar added, “We have instructed our officials to arrest people immediately found creating nuisance in restaurants, bars, pubs and on roads.”
The Bengaluru Police Commissioner also said that 500 CCTVs have been installed in various locations.

The police will operate drones to track the movement of vehicles and revellers. Bomb and dog squads will maintain law and order across the city during the night-long bash.
