Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is a 'statesman' who has a good vision for future generations and development-oriented approach for Punjab. Taking a far-sighted step, Chief Minister has urged the farmers to adopt direct seeding of rice (DSR) and cultivate Moong and Basmati as alternative crops to save water, land and electricity of Punjab, stated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab’s chief spokesperson Malwinder Singh Kang during a press conference at the party headquarters here today. Kang stated that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann comes from an agrarian family and is a true farmer sympathiser who spoke to the agitated farmers right away. The Chief Minister accepted the demands of farmers within 24 hours and restored trust between the government and the farmers. Malwinder Singh Kang said that Punjab has an agriculture-based economy. And state's agriculture is reliant on the quality of land, availability of water and electricity. Therefore, fertile soil0 and ample water means successful agriculture sector and agriculture sector’s progress means flourishing economy of Punjab.
see He stated that the Mann government is continually taking positive steps for the growth and upliftment of agriculture in the state, and the people of Punjab are behind the government in this endeavour. The increased area under moong and more and more farmers supporting direct seeding of rice substantiate their co-operation with Mann government to save valuable ground water of Punjab. A large number of farmers, in Punjab, are sowing paddy directly from today (May 20th) Kang alleged that the previous Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal-Bhartiya Janata Party governments in Punjab had failed to come up with a viable policy to conserve natural resources, save the agriculture sector, and help farmers.
They had only plundered the natural resources and looted the people of Punjab. On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has begun a concerted effort to safeguard agricultural, land, water, and energy in order to assure farming sector's overall development. Punjab government has decided to purchase moong and basmati at MSP. Not only that, but the government has also asked farmers to plant the PR-126 paddy type, which matures in just 123 days. Malwinder Singh Kang said, The decisions taken by the Mann government will save about 7 billion cubic meters of water and 20,000 MW of electricity in the state. In addition, the use of pesticides and fertilizers on crops will be reduced, which will improve the fertility of the land and the environmental conditions.
