New Delhi:

Protesters squatted on tracks in several railway stations across India, leading to the cancellation of 12 trains of East Coast Railway Zone, including Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express and Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam InterCity Express, to enforce an all India shutdown against the rising fuel prices across India.

"East Coast Railway Zone has cancelled 12 trains including Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express and Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam InterCity Express in the view of Bharat Bandh," the news agency ANI reported.

The North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC), on the other hand, shut their bus services in Kalaburagi to enforce an all India shutdown against the record-breaking petrol and diesel prices across India.

Railway services were also disrupted in Bihar when Jan Adhikar Party Loktantrik workers blocked railway tracks in Patna's Rajendra Nagar Terminal railway station in support to the Bharat Bandh that has been called by Congress and other opposition parties.

Except for few BJP allies and two-three non-NDA parties, most of the Opposition parties have extended their support in the September 10 'Bharat bandh' called by the Congress. The Congress and the other Opposition parties are demanding the Narendra Modi Modi government to bring petrol and diesel under the GST - a move that can reduce the fuel prices by Rs 15-18 per litre.
