Bihar: Chargesheeted spurious liquor seller’s selfie with CM Nitish Kumar triggers controversy

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has landed in a controversy after a selfie went viral where he was seen posing with his party leader Rakesh Singh who was also an accused of Aarah spurious liquor case 2012. The opposition parties have targeted Nitish Kumar and questioned his move of the complete liquor ban in the state.

Now, the chief minister is giving clarification over pictures during public meetings.

Of late, Nitish has launched a state-wide campaign to end social evils like dowry and child marriage.  Inspired with this, two families had returned the dowry and JD(U)'s Udvantnagar block president Rakesh Singh took them to Nitish for felicitation. Rakesh also took a selfie with the chief minister.

Tejashwi took a dig at Nitish Kumar on Twitter, saying that the chief minister is felicitating an accused of spurious liquor case at his residence. Give him applaud in the name of liquor ban, he said.

As soon as Nitish’s selfie with Rakesh went viral, the opposition parties launched tirade and questioned Nitish Kumar’s decision of complete liquor ban in the state.

In 2013, Rakesh was put behind the bars after being charge sheeted in the case. Rakesh Singh has been suspended from the party.
