Patna:
As much as eight people drowned while taking bath in the Ganga River in Fatuha area of Bihar's Vaishali district on Sunday. Bodies of four victims have been retrieved so far including a woman and three children.
This follows the boat capsizing mishap reported from Bagmati river of Samastipur district of Bihar.
According to the sources, all the victims belong to Nauhatta, Mirzapur of Fatuha.
The incident occurred near Mastana Ghat of Fatuha which falls under the jurisdiction of Radhopur Diyara of Vaishali District.
Sources informed that the victims had gone to the banks of Ganga River for a picnic following the culmination of Kartik Purnima on Sunday.
The state government has announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the victims.
