The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to grant any relief to Bachcha Rai, the accused in the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) toppers scam. In June 2016 Rai surrendered before police, following which he was arrested.

Rai is the secretary-cum-principal of Vishun Rai College in Bihar's Vaishali district. Ruby Rai and Saurabh Shrestha, Arts and Science toppers, were also involved in the exam racket. Both hail from the same district.

Ruby Rai had pronounced Political Science "Prodigal Science", saying this subject taught cooking. In June 2016, she was given a second chance to face experts.

Rai played an important role with the help of the BSEB in the police investigation.
