The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held its first Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting to discuss candidates for the forthcoming elections in the five states. BJP has announced 77 candidates out of 90 for Chhattisgarh state elections. Former IAS officer OP Chaudhary will be contesting from Chhattisgarh's Kharsia constituency, said JP Nadda after BJP's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting in Delhi.

For Telangana assembly polls, BJP has decided the contestants for 38 seats, according to the minister. 13 seats have also been finalised for the Mizoram polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav and others were present at BJP headquarters for party's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting, ANI tweeted.

BJP has 14 members in the Central Election Committee: PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Thavar Chandra Gehlot, Anant Kumar, Ram Lal, party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain, J P Nadda, Jual Oram, Mahila Morcha and Vijaya Rahatkar.
