BJP doors open for sacked AAP MLA Kapil Mishra, says Vijay Goel

Sacked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kapil Mishra is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under its ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ initiative, Union minister Vijay Goel hinted on Sunday.

Goel, who visited Mishra at his residence as part of the ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ initiative on Sunday said that the doors of the BJP were always open for the former Delhi minister.

“Doors are open for anyone who wants to work for the people. Now, it is on Kapil Mishra to decide if he wants to support the BJP or not. We want all the good people to support the party; this is why we have started the ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ initiative,” Goel said after meeting Mishra.

Mishra, who was the Water Resource Minister in the AAP government, was removed from the post and party in May 2017. A day after his removal, Mishra levelled serious allegations of bribery against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Mishra had alleged that Kejriwal had taken a bribe of Rs 2 crore from Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain.

The AAP had rebutted all the charges and claimed that Mishra was working at the behest of the BJP and his poor performance as Delhi water minister was the reason behind his removal.

At the time of Mishra’s sacking, there were speculations that the rebel AAP leader will join the BJP. However, he denied any possibilities of him joining the saffron party he criticised throughout his political career in AAP.

Now with the general elections approaching the country next year, the speculations are again on rife that the former Kejriwal aide will join the BJP. Her mother, Annapurna Mishra is already a BJP leader and Mayor of East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
