A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was beheaded by a group of men in Bihar’s Darbhanga district for naming a square - Prime Minister Narendra Modi Chowk, police said on Friday.
The incident came to surface after the victim’s father lodged a complaint with the Dharbhanga Police on Friday morning.
According to Bihar Police, a group of 40-50 men attacked the elderly man and his brother with hockey sticks, baton and swords.
“After lynching the BJP leader, his murderers beheaded him,” said a police officer not willing to be identified.
The deceased BJP leader has been identified as Ramchandra Yadav and the injured as Kamal Yadav.
BJP party workers in large numbers protested and blocked the square in Bhadaha village. The protesting party workers claimed that the murder was a handiwork of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party workers.
They also claimed that the murderers were shouting ‘Lalu zindabad’ slogans.
According to senior officers of Darbhanga, four people have been arrested in connection to lynching and beheading of a BJP leader.
