Pragya Thakur accused Rahul Gandhi of breaching her privilege as a parliamentarian by calling her a 'terrorist'.

New Delhi:

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Pragya Thakur, who tendered an unconditional apology for her Godse remark, has moved a breach of privilege notice in the Lok Sabha against former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for calling her a ‘terrorist’. "Being a woman, the way I have fought against the mental and physical torture carried out by the previous government as part of a conspiracy, can that struggle be called terrorism?" she said in the notice.

"I want to ask would questions be raised against the MP who levelled such allegation against a woman without any evidence? Will action be taken against him?" she added.

Thakur accused Rahul of breaching her privilege as a parliamentarian by calling her a 'terrorist' even though she has been acquitted by a court and sought action against him from the Speaker.

Official sources said the Lok Sabha secretariat will examine the merit of her complaint before recommending to the Speaker whether to admit her notice and send it to the privilege committee of the House or reject it.

Reacting to Pragya’s remarks on Nathuram Godse, Gandhi had said that it reflects the ‘heart of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and BJP.’

"What she (Pragya Thakur) is saying, that is the heart of the RSS and BJP, what can I say? It cannot be hidden. I don't need to waste my time demanding action against that woman," Gandhi told reporters outside the Parliament.

Gandhi had called her a “terrorist” on Twitter following her praise of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin. He stood by his comments on Friday.

Thakur has clarified that she never took Nathuram Godse’s name and didn’t refer him as a patriot.

"On November 27, during a discussion on Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, 2019, I did not call Nathuram Godse a 'deshbhakt'. I did not even mention his name. I apologise again if I have hurt any sentiments," she said in the Lok Sabha.
