BJP slams Mamata, says West Bengal CM is playing 'dirty politics' over Aadhaar

West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday lashed out at state chief minister Mamata Banerjee, saying that the latter is playing “dirty politics.”

The saffron party’s comment came after Banerjee said the Supreme Court has not rejected her petition but directed her to approach it in an individual capacity in a case wherein the state government had challenged the constitutional validity of Aadhaar.

While talking to News Nation, BJP spokesperson Ritesh Tiwari said, "Mamta Banerjee lives in an illusion. We can’t help it. The Supreme Court has clearly said that whatever parliament decides and create law, every state has to follow it. Now, she is patting her own back as she is champion doing so.”

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court wondered how a state can challenge Parliament's mandate and question the Centre's move to make the Aadhaar card mandatory for receiving the benefits of social welfare schemes.
