The strike called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday affected normal life in West Bengal's Purulia district.
The move came after two of their party workers were allegedly murdered by the ruling Trinamool Congress within a period of three days.
The BJP has alleged that its workers Dulal Kumar and Trilochon Mahato, who were found hanging in West Bengal's Purulia district, were killed by the TMC.
The TMC, however, has denied the allegation, terming it "baseless" On the other hand, BJP termed the deaths "political murders" and also demanded a CBI inquiry into both the incidents. The investigation of the incidents has now been taken over by the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
The alleged killings have triggered another round of face-off between the TMC and the BJP, which were embroiled in a bitter slugfest during the panchayat elections last month.
