The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest the elections of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker and Vijay Shah will be the saffron party’s candidate for the post. The announcement was made by the BJP after group singing of the national song Vande Materam. With just 114 MLAs, the Congress party doesn’t have the full majority in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly and the BJP hopes to find some consolation through the speaker’s post. However, the party, which has 109 MLAs, would need at least six more votes to win the post. The Congress, on the other hand, would need just two more seats and with the support of BSP MLAs, the party is likely to win the post easily.
