Over 150 people were injured after blue bottle jellyfish, which is also known as Portuguese man-of-war, attacked them, causing panic and fear among the people, according to sources.

A shopkeeper at Juhu Beach said that many people had been injured, and said he had been helping them by rubbing lemon when they’re stung.

Scores of blue bottle jellyfish were spotted on Mumbai beaches.

The blue bottle jellyfish have long tentacles, which enter the body of an individual and causes itching and pain for hours.

While the venomous sting is harmful, it is only fatal for other fish, not humans.

Blue bottle jellyfishes generally come out every year during the mid-monsoons for reproduction

Locals said that the jellyfishes are seen every year on the beaches, but this time they can be spotted in large number.
