Jodhpur Police on Monday night rescued a girl who tried to commit suicide by jumping into the lake. 

The girl was believed to be playing the deadly online game Blue Whale Challenge, which encourages vulnerable teenagers to commit heinous tasks and ultimately end their life. 

On Monday night at around 11 PM, the police officials patrolling the area noticed a girl making rounds of lake in the eastern region of Jodhpur. Soon after she jumped, Police Station chief Lekhraj alongwith diver Om Prakash followed her and rescued her from deep waters, a police release said.

Later after investigation it wa revealed that she even had Blue Whale tattoo on her arm, one of the steps that players follow in the game. 

Police later released the girl in parent's custody after a counselling session. 

Blue Whale Challenge, which started in Russia, has spread across the globe and is claiming the lives of scores of teenagers. Police and administration has advised parents to be cautious of the game and monitor young adults behaviour for suicidal signs.
