The Blue Whale Suicide Challenge unlike the Ice Bucket Challenge, which was started for a social cause, provokes teenagers and youngsters to perform sinister tasks and finally committing suicide on the 50th day.

It was not a worry in India till a  teenager from Mumbai last weekend jumped off from his flat terrace in Andheri. The Mumbai Police suspects the boy’s death is linked with the deadly Blue Whale Challenge game. 

The death of teenager has become a concern for thousands of parents across the country. 

All Parents should know about Blue Whale Challenge

According to reports published in various Russian media the game was played via the website Vkontakte, a popular social networking site in Russia. The game is also popularly known as ‘A Sea of Whales’ and ‘A Silent House’.

Game administrator gives a series of sinister tasks to the player everyday and with each day, the level of causing deliberate self-harm increases. 

The Blue Whale Challenge administrator provokes players to commit suicide by brainwashing them to believe they are losers.

On the first the player has to cut mark ‘f7’ on his hand with help of the razor. 

Game administrators ask players to wake on odd hours and on mid-way of the game the players are asked to cut their arms or any other body parts with a razor or any sharp weapon.

As 50th day nears the administrators starts provoking the player to commit suicide and asks the players to pledge to commit suicide on being asked.

On the remaining five days, the players are directed to lock themselves in their rooms, watch horror movies and listen to songs provided to them by the game manager or another Blue Whale and seclude themselves from family members. 

Challenger on the 50th day asks the players to jump off from a terrace. 

Signs Parents should look for 

Cut marks on body

Whale tattoo or any other cut marks

Untimely waking up

Watching horror and psychedelic movies

Unlikely updates on social networking sites

Locking himself or herself in room

Secluding herself/himself from relatives and friends

Spending time on terrace alone

Search phone video and picture gallery for self-harmed pictures
