Abbas Wani, former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and ex-MLA from Tangmarg, joined Sajjad Lone's J&K People’s Conference on Sunday. On December 10, Wani, in a letter to party president Mehbooba Mufti, informed her about his decision to resign from the basic membership of the party. Before Wani, former finance minister Haseeb Drabu, Shia leader Imran Ansari and his uncle Abid Ansari HAD resigned from the PDP.

On Saturday, former PDP minister Javed Mustafa Mir resigned from the party. Mir said he would decide the future course after consulting his followers.Â
Wani is the fourth former legislator to join Lone's party, which has emerged as a strong political force in Kashmir. Before Wani, leaders such as Imran Raza Ansari, former MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari and former MLA Zanskar Baqir Rizvi joined the party.Â
