Encounter breaks out between terrorists, security forces in Shopian, area cordoned off

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday. The area has been cordoned off by the security forces. 

Earlier this month, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Hindsitapur area of Shopian district in south Kashmir following specific information about the presence of militants there.

As the forces were conducting the search operations, the terrorists fired upon them, which led to a gun battle in which the two militants were killed. Weapons and other materials have been seized from the site of the encounter, the official added.
