Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) minister Javed Mustafa Mir resigned from the party on on Saturday. Mir said he will decide the future course after consulting his followers. "I have decided to quit from the basic membership of the PDP and will forward my resignation to the party on Sunday morning," Mir told a local news house.Â

Mir resignation came after Maulana Imran Ansari, Abid Ansari, Haseeb Drabu and Basharat Bukhari decided to quit the party.
Mir contested from the Chadura assembly constituency in 2002 as a PDP candidate and won the election, in the 2008 and 2014 assembly elections too, Mir retained the seat.
Mir’s father was Mustafa Mir, a veteran political leader who was shot dead by terrorists in 1990s.
Besides five MLAs, several senior leaders, including Raja Aijaz, Mehboob Iqbal, Runiyal and Peer Mohammad Hussain, resigned from the party recently.
