Security has been beefed up out CBI office in the national capital as the Congress is set to hold protests outside all CBI offices across the country demanding an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the nation for unceremoniously sending Alok Verma on leave. The party also demandsthe reinstatement of the CBI director.
Top Congress leaders will be part of the protest outside the Central Bureau of Investigation headquarters in the national capital, while state leaders, including state party chiefs, will take part in similar protests, according to PTI reports.

Top Congress sources said the party will ask the prime minister to apologise to the nation for "illegal and unconstitutional" sending on leave of the CBI director. The party will also seek reinstatement of Verma.
Apart from sending Verma and Asthana on leave, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet led by the prime minister also transferred several CBI officials and appointed M Nageswar Rao as the interim chief of the agency.

The Congress has been maintaining that Verma was removed for allegedly willing to probe the "irregularities" in the Rafale deal and has slammed the Narendra Modi government for the same.
