Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's health condition is extremely critical and doctors are trying their best, said the Chief Minister’s Office on Sunday. Earlier in the day, former Goa minister and BJP core committee member Dayanand Mandrekar said the central leadership will have to take a call on new chief minister as Parrikar’s health is "very critical". "If Manohar Parrikar was well, there would be no need to change the leader. But because his health is critical now and there is day to day deterioration (in his health condition) the party has to take some decision. I think it will happen," Mandrekar said, adding that you need a chief minister to run the government.
Goa minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday met Parrikar and said his health had "deteriorated", but he was "stable". Sardesai, along with five Goa MLAs, met Parrikar at his private residence.
The health of Parrikar, who is suffering from a pancreatic ailment, had deteriorated earlier in the day sparking hectic political activities across parties in the coastal state.

Emerging from Parrikar's private residence at Dona Paula, Sardesai told reporters on Saturday, "The CMs health has deteriorated, but he is stable."
"When cancer was detected and the CM showed a willingness to step down, at that time we had asked for a permanent solution and stability. Today, his health has deteriorated, but we are with him. He is stable. I don't know what exactly is his stage (of ailment)," he said.
According to reports, the BJP has already started exploring options for the new chief minister and is likely to send its representatives to the state to consult the legislators. During the BJP's Goa unit meeting, the MLAs have reportedly said that the new chief minister should be one of them and not a parachute candidate.
Meanwhile, Goa BJP spokesperson Sandesh Sadhale said that the party’s leadership both in Centre as well as the state were already discussing the political transition in the state. "We are already thinking on Goa political transit phase. We will come out of all things with greater success,†he said in a statement.
The development has come a day after Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar wrote to Governor Mridula Sinha asking her to dismiss the BJP-led state government.Â
